My garden is my place to be me. I can immerse myself there for hours on end.I can be inventive, creative, even eccentric.I love colour, shape and texture, gardening is about expressing myself in any way I like. My garden gives me permission to be me.

Raspberry Ripple
The tulip in the picture is Carneval de Nice, it reminds me so much of Raspberry Ripple Icecream from my childhood in Ireland. We could buy icecream from an amazing little shack like shop in Ballinesker Beach near Curracloe. My brother Pete and I would buy a two pennarth wafer from Mrs ha Reed's shop, then trawl up the dunes, only to get to the top and drop it in the sand, so they became gritty Raspberry Ripple ice cream wafers. These tulips have shown true grit with the recent weather they have had to endure. I placed them by my front door and each morning they bring a smile to my face with their confident, showy elegence.
Tulips I have to admit are a delight to grow, plant them in November, forget about them and suddenly there they are in full glory, I just love them.
My greenhouse is full of seedlings that are just about coping with the fluctuating temperatures. I am awaiting some electricity to the green house this year, to enable some unusual species to be propagated, not sure what they will be yet, but I have a hankering after Orchids.
I planted my Tomato plants yesterday. This year I did two varieties one cherry called Sungold and the other a big fat juicy Italian called Castuloto Fiorentino, the name says it all, so good for sauces and salsa. I am bringing some plants to my family in Ireland who will make such good use of them. My family love good food and draw on their knowledge of how simple food, grown with love pays dividends. A visit to the wonderful Sharoe restuarant in Clonegal is definately on the cards to compliment my trip. I shall take my 93 year old mother who still loves dressing up for an occassion.
The wedding bed looks too embaressing to show at the moment, its bare, some slug antics and Dahlia that look like match sticks, guess what, the slugs have gone off Tesco Valu beer, any suggestions????
